Frequently asked questions
My child is new to basketball and I’m not sure if they will like it. Would it be possible to do a trial class?
Our policy is that only kids that have registered in the program can participate. This is mainly for liability and licensing purposes but is also out of consideration for the registered participants and coaching staff. However, we do understand the importance of wanting to get your child familiar with the gym setting and therefore can offer you the opportunity to observe a class from the sidelines. Please send your request to info@ccyaa.org so that we can arrange this and have a staff/coach available to give you background on the program and answer any question you might have.
What is your cancellation policy?
Do you offer sibling discounts?
We do not offer sibling discounts. As a non-profit organization all the proceeds goes towards the program and ensuring your child has the resources and support they need for an enjoyable experience.
I would like to register but my child can only participate for part of the season. Is there a way to accommodate this?
Generally as a guideline we do not offer this option at the start of the season as many of our classes are at capacity and we do not want to take up a spot from a participant who wants to participant in the full 22 week program. However, we may review requests for partial seasons on a case by case basis. The curriculum is also designed so that your child is building on his/her skills each week and being introduced to new drills and challenges, therefore, started them partway through a season may put them behind from their classmates.
I am interested in signing my child up for your program but noticed that your classes are full or you are more than halfway through the season. How do I register for next season?
Our regular program runs from October to April with registration taking place over the summer. We offer wait lists for classes that are full. Wait lists are free of charge. If a spot opens up, we contact you by email and you have 48 hours to respond and settle the balance before we move to the next person on the wait list.
If we are part way into the season and you are interested in receiving updates for registration to next year’s classes, please send an email to info@ccyaa.org and we will add you to our mailing list.
My child will be missing some of the classes. Do I need to inform anyone of this?
Each week we have a sign-in/sign-out process for our Rising Stars and Junior Jammers classes to keep track of attendance. If you are unable to attend a class there is no need to inform your coaches in advance.
Are there make-up classes if my child misses a week?
Our program is offered over a 22 week season and we do not offer make up classes if your child is unable to attend some of the classes. If classes are cancelled for reasons outside our control (i.e. weather, permit cancellation, etc.), we will add a replacement class to make up for that session.
My child is at an age where he/she has the option between enrolling in either Junior JAMMERS or All-STars Basketball. How do I decide which one to choose?
Either option is available and will depend on the skill and comfort level of the child. The main differences between the two programs is that a) Junior Jammers is a 1 hour class whereas All-Stars is a 2 hour class, b) Junior Jammers uses an junior sized ball (size 5) whereas SNYB uses a standard size basketball (size 7) and c) Participants of All-Stars should be able to shoot consistently on a 10 ft rim with a standard size basketball.
